Mark Biernbaum Receives Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award

Mark BiernbaumLadue Middle School Industrial Technology teacher Mark Biernbaum received the 2022 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award on Nov. 14.

Superintendent Dr. Jim Wipke, LMS Principal Dr. Angela Thompson, district administrators, and Biernbaum's family surprised him during his 2nd-period class with balloons, an engraved award, and a certificate of recognition.

Biernbaum has taught at LMS since 1997.

Along with his teaching duties, he oversees the Ladue Ski Club and coordinates the annual Sixth-Grade Camp, which he has done since 2003.

The award follows Biernbaum's recognition as Ladue Schools Teacher of the Year for the 2021-22 school year.

Emerson's Excellence in Teaching Awards program, now in its 33rd year, recognizes educators in the St. Louis metropolitan area – from kindergarten teachers to college professors – who are examples of excellence in their field.
