Rams on the Air: LHWHS Students Partner with Gateway STEM for KSDK Feature

Lights, camera, action! Last Thursday, six of our talented Ladue Horton Watkins High School (LHWHS) students took over the set of KSDK's "Show Me St. Louis" as part of a unique, long-standing partnership with Saint Louis Public Schools.

Congratulations to Nyasia Brown (9), Campbell Cross (12), Annabelle Kopec (9), Xavier Lopez-Vergara (12), Charlie Rickard (10), and Charlie Rozier (11) on their incredible broadcast debut!

Our Rams teamed up with six students from Gateway STEM High School to produce two professional news segments. Working together at LHWHS, the teams were tasked with highlighting local non-profits doing vital work in our community.

  • Team One spotlighted the Boys and Girls Club of Greater St. Louis, highlighting its impact on local youth.
  • Team Two shared the mission of Friends of Kids with Cancer, bringing awareness to the support they provide to families in need.

Throughout the project, KSDK’s own Mary Caltrider and Malik Wilson worked hand in hand with the students, helping them cultivate and execute their creative visions while gaining firsthand experience in the TV industry.

More than just a media lesson, this partnership brings students from different backgrounds together to foster collaboration, community, and friendship between our two districts.

The experience wrapped up in style on Thursday at the KSDK studios. After airing their stories live on "Show Me St. Louis," the students celebrated their hard work with a pizza party and a behind-the-scenes tour of the station’s facilities!

We invite the entire Ladue community to watch these future broadcasters in action. Way to go, Rams!
