Rambunction Robotics Takes St. Louis Regional Robotics Competition by Storm

Ladue Horton Watkins High School’s Rambunction Robotics Team (#4330) recently showcased their skill, perseverance, and teamwork at the St. Louis Regional FIRST Robotics Competition!

Competing against nearly 50 teams, Rambunction Robotics advanced to the prestigious 'Elite 8' bracket and earned the Sustainability Award for their dedication to innovation and environmental consciousness.

With 22 hardworking students giving up their Spring Break to compete, the team demonstrated incredible resilience and problem-solving abilities. Their coach, Ted Waterson, couldn’t be prouder:

"I am most proud of our team's perseverance. Our robot was designed and built entirely by our students,” he explained. “Many of the components were cut and assembled by hand. Unlike other teams that rely on expensive equipment and professional mentors, we depend on simple tools and our team's industrious attitude. Our students commit four hours after school each day and entire weekends to this work. This hands-on approach makes them one of the best at diagnosing and fixing robot issues on the spot, which is why other teams in the finals relied on us to repair their robots."

Beyond robotics, Rambunction Robotics embraces sustainability and service. The team launched the "Elements" Recycling Club at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, and some members have contributed to Missouri Department of Conservation projects as Boy Scouts.

Their hard work, innovation, and commitment to making a positive difference in the Ladue Schools community and the world are truly inspiring. Congratulations, Rambunction Robotics—we can't wait to see what you accomplish next!
