The celebration across Ladue Schools continues as district educators earn well-deserved recognition on the state level! Tammy MacLean, Gifted Specialist at Old Bonhomme Elementary, Ladue Schools’ District Teacher of the Year, and St. Louis Regional Teacher of the Year, has now been named a 2027 Missouri Teacher of the Year semifinalist by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

Tammy was selected as one of just 16 semifinalists from across Missouri, standing out among thousands of educators for her exceptional dedication, creativity, and daily impact.

Superintendent Dr. Geoff Macy, alongside district administrators and Old Bonhomme leadership, dropped in to surprise Tammy at Spoede Elementary while she was hard at work planning for the 2026-27 school year with our district’s Gifted Specialist team.

Her selection as a state semifinalist comes as no surprise to those who witnessed her inspiring keynote address during the district's Convocation this August. 

"When we become the steady weight on the other end of someone else's seesaw, we don't just change a school year; sometimes we change a life," Tammy shared during her address. 

By creating an inclusive environment where students feel seen, respected, and encouraged to channel their natural curiosity into creative projects, she embodies the traits of an extraordinary educator.
