LHWHS Science Olympiad Team Soar Through Regionals, Advances to State

The Ladue Horton Watkins High School (LHWHS) Science Olympiad team has once again demonstrated their brilliance, securing a commanding 1st place finish at the Regionals Div 6 C Missouri State Qualifier Tournament at Lindenwood University! 

Competing against 21 teams, the Rams delivered a truly dominant performance, winning 13 of the 23 events, placing top 3 in 19 events, top 5 in 22 events, and finishing top 10 in all 23 events—a remarkable feat that underscores their exceptional talent, preparation, and teamwork.

The team showcased excellence across various scientific disciplines, excelling in theoretical and applied challenges. Their victories spanned the following categories:

  • Physics & Engineering – Air Trajectory, Bungee Drop, Electric Vehicle, Helicopter, Tower, Wind Power
  • Biological Sciences & Health – Anatomy & Physiology, Disease Detectives, Ecology, Entomology, Microbe Mission
  • Earth & Space Sciences – Astronomy, Dynamic Planet, Fossils, Geologic Mapping
  • Chemistry & Lab Sciences – Chem Lab, Forensics, Materials Science, Optics
  • Technology & Problem-Solving – Codebusters, Experimental Design, Robot Tour, Write It Do It

Under the guidance of Mark Biernbaum, Industrial Technology teacher at Ladue Middle School and team sponsor, the Rams are now setting their sights on defending their Missouri Science Olympiad State Championship title. The state tournament will take place on April 26 at Central Missouri University in Warrensburg, MO, where the team will aim to extend their legacy of excellence and secure another championship victory.
