Congratulations to Brandon Barrett, a Ladue Horton Watkins High School junior who has earned the Congressional Award Gold Medal, the highest achievement for youth given by the United States Congress.
The Congressional Award was created to honor, encourage, and inspire America’s youth. Since 1979, Congress has recognized thousands of outstanding young Americans who have earned this recognition.
“The LHWHS faculty and staff are so very proud of Brandon, not only for the service he has done for our community but for the model of service and civic engagement he provides for peers and staff alike,” said Brad Griffith, principal at Ladue Horton Watkins High School.
In two years, Brandon has completed over 400 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal development, 200 hours of fitness, and a five-day trip exploring a new environment and different culture to earn this award.
Last year, 724 students nationwide earned gold medals, including Ladue’s own Gianna Francis. Each summer, the United States Congress recognizes the gold medalist in front of families and peers in a multi-day recognition event in Washington, D.C.
Ladue Schools is proud of Brandon Barrett for challenging himself to make a positive difference in our community while achieving his highest potential and inspiring other students to be culturally and globally aware.
