As two of only 60 qualifying middle school and 60 high school teams in the country to participate in the National Science Olympiad Tournament, the Ladue Middle School and Ladue Horton Watkins High School Science Olympiad teams are among the nation’s best in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
And our students' performances at the tournament hosted at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln did not disappoint.
The Ladue Horton Watkins High School team finished 27th overall in the nation. Highlights from their performance include:
- 6th Place – Optics: Newman Shen & Medha Chode
- 4th Place – Botany: Alex Wang & Aidan Zu

The Ladue Middle School team had a phenomenal tournament, finishing 9th overall in the United States, earning a national trophy and a place on the awards stage. Their achievements included:
- 1st Place – Mission Possible (Rube Goldberg event): Alice Chang & Andrea Jeliazkova
- 1st Place – Hovercraft: Kelson Cui & Arjun Jain
- 4th Place – Agricultural Science: Selena Yang & Kelson Cui
- 5th Place – Anatomy & Physiology: Ashley Tran & Zoran Pan
- 5th Place – Codebusters: Chloe Zhang, Eric Tang, & Oishi Dasgupta
