Ladue Schools Raises Nearly $10,000 for Tornado Relief Efforts in St. Louis Region
In response to the recent tornado that caused significant damage across the St. Louis region, the Ladue School District community united to support relief efforts through a districtwide fundraising campaign. Over $10,000 was raised for the American Red Cross-St. Louis Relief Fund in just two days.
The idea for the fundraiser originated with Jennifer Hadfield, a fourth-grade teacher at Reed Elementary, who brought the idea to Superintendent Dr. Jim Wipke. Inspired by her initiative, Dr. Wipke and his leadership team quickly coordinated a districtwide campaign in the final days of the school year, turning a spark of compassion into a swift and impactful community effort.
On Thursday, June 5, Superintendent Dr. Wipke, district leaders, and Hadfield presented a check for $10,100 to the American Red Cross, with the funds designated to assist families with the vital St. Louis City tornado relief efforts.
“This contribution is particularly meaningful as it was generated through the remarkable generosity, compassion, and swift action of Ladue students, staff, and families, who raised the funds in a mere two days to help those affected by the recent tornado,” Dr. Wipke said. “It was inspiring to witness such a rapid outpouring of support for our fellow St. Louisans. This initiative underscores our community's dedication to supporting our neighbors in their time of need.
“I’m especially grateful to Jennifer Hadfield for sparking this idea and helping us launch such a meaningful effort. We hope this donation provides meaningful support to those rebuilding their lives.”
