Congratulations to Madeline Awad, a junior at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, who has earned the Congressional Award Gold Medal, the highest honor presented to youth by the United States Congress.
The Congressional Award, established in 1979, recognizes young Americans who demonstrate initiative, service, and personal growth. Through this program, thousands of students nationwide have been honored for their commitment to bettering themselves and their communities.
In just two years, Madeline has completed over 400 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and a five-day expedition exploring a new environment and culture—all to meet the rigorous standards of the Gold Medal.
“We are incredibly proud of Madeline—not only for the dedication and service she has shown to our community, but also for the example she sets for her peers and the inspiration she brings to our school through her leadership and civic engagement. Congratulations on this prestigious honor!” said Brad Griffith, principal of Ladue Horton Watkins High School.
Madeline will travel to Washington, D.C. this summer to be recognized by Congress alongside other Gold Medalists, including fellow LHWHS student Brandon Barrett, who also earned the award this year.
Ladue Schools is proud of Madeline Awad for her outstanding commitment to service, leadership, and personal growth. Her achievements continue a tradition of excellence, civic engagement, and global awareness among our students.
