Ladue School District’s Brooke Bilby Announced as NAGC Gifted Coordinator Award Recipient

Congratulations are in order for Ladue Schools' Gifted Coordinator Brooke Bilby, who was recently announced as a recipient of the National Association for Gifted Children’s (NAGC) Gifted Coordinator Award.

With this award, the NAGC recognizes dedicated educators, leaders, scholars, and advocates who support the growth and development of all gifted and talented children.

“Brooke has been a leader in educating classroom teachers, parents, and administrators about the importance of Gifted Education as an intervention,” stated Tamara MacLean, Gifted Specialist at Old Bonhomme Elementary School. “She actively stays current on the most up-to-date research in gifted education and is quick to implement policies that support gifted learners. She is an advocate for kids and a well-respected leader of the gifted team at Ladue Schools.”

In 2007, Bilby accepted the role of Gifted Coordinator in the Ladue School District and, under her leadership, has grown the gifted program to where it is today, with 19% of the 4,300 student population participating.

Bilby helped to advocate for increasing the alternate pathways in gifted education by providing innovative goals that challenge and engage students. Thanks to goals and programs like “Primary Problem Solvers,” the percentage of disproportioned students in the gifted program has doubled, from four percent to eight percent.

“Brooke is a champion for gifted students and gifted education,” detailed Dr. Laila Crabtree, Ladue Schools Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. “She has provided professional development to our teachers and staff about the unique characteristics of gifted learners. Brooke has dedicated her career to educating, supporting, and advocating for the gifted students in our school district and community. She is most deserving of this award.”

The NAGC will recognize her alongside three other Gifted Coordinators nationwide for their achievements at the annual Celebration of Excellence, Nov. 21-24, 2024, during NAGC24 in Seattle, WA.

Ladue Schools wants to congratulate and thank Brooke Bilby for advocating for our students and laying the foundation for them to become passionate learners while achieving their highest potential.
