Kerry Bennett Receives Inaugural Starfish Award

Kerry Bennett, a Special School District teacher at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, is a recipient of the Starfish Award from the Special Education Foundation.

The award, in its inaugural year, celebrates individuals who have brought about significant change through seemingly small yet deeply meaningful actions.

Bennett is one of eight recipients, all of whom are selected from public schools in the St. Louis area that partner with SSD.

Candidates for the honor are nominated by their peers and exhibit the following qualities:

  • Demonstrates unwavering compassion and kindness.
  • Leaves a remarkable imprint on the lives of students and families within the Special School District and the 22 partner districts in St. Louis County
  • Offers vital support during challenging circumstances.
  • Their actions generate a ripple effect of positivity, creating a nurturing environment for all.

Recipients will be honored at a Special Education Foundation ceremony on June 13 at CITYPARK Stadium.
