Amelie Lock Named Finalist for Outstanding Lead Actress

Ladue Schools proudly congratulates Amelie Lock, a talented 10th-grade student at Ladue Horton Watkins High School (LHWHS), for being named a finalist for Outstanding Lead Actress at the 8th Annual St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards, on May 15 at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.

Amelie earned this prestigious recognition for her powerful performance in the school’s spring production of The Prom, a heartfelt and vibrant musical brought to life by the Ladue Theatre Department and Thespian Troupe 1109.

The St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards (SLHSMTA) celebrate excellence in musical theatre across the region and are modeled after Broadway’s Tony Awards®. Finalists are selected through a rigorous year-long adjudication process led by a panel of esteemed theatre professionals from the Fabulous Fox Theatre, The Muny, and the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation.

Reflecting on Amelie’s recognition, LHWHS Theatre Director Jessica Winingham shared, “The Thespian Society that produces the winter musical every year is an exceptional group of artists, and Amelie's nomination is not a surprise at all. She performed beautifully as Emma in The Prom, and no matter what happens, we could not be more proud of her.”

Adding to the excitement, LHWHS seniors Abi Loiterstein and Kate Sheley have been selected to perform in the opening number of the awards ceremony. As part of the tradition, each participating school sends two student representatives for this high-energy kickoff performance at the Fabulous Fox.

The recipients of the Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Lead Actor awards will be awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to represent St. Louis at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards—commonly known as the Jimmy Awards. They will also participate in a week-long, immersive professional development experience and compete with top student performers nationwide.

Amelie’s nomination is not just a personal triumph but also a reflection of the extraordinary talent, dedication, and collaboration within the LHWHS Theatre community. We wish Amelie, Abi, and Kate the very best as they represent Ladue Schools on one of the city’s grandest stages.
