Board President Jennifer Growe Soshnik's Remarks

• Welcomed everyone to the September 9, 2026, Board of Education meeting, celebrating a successful first few weeks of the school year filled with excitement and new beginnings.
• Expressed continued pride in how smoothly all district buildings have settled into the new academic year.
• Encouraged the entire community to join the upcoming Homecoming festivities, including the parade and high school events such as the Powderpuff game.

Superintendent Dr. Geoff Macy’s Remarks

• Highlighted his attendance at the 51st annual 6th Grade Camp at Camp Mahaska, recognizing the transformative tradition, and thanked camp directors Dr. Lisa Stein and Adam Durham, Assistant Principal Sarah Schwartz, staff, nurses, and the 100+ high school student counselors.
• Noted how the 6th Grade Camp experience reinforces the district's convocation theme of building meaningful connections and trusting relationships outside the traditional classroom.
• Recognized Katie Solomon, a 21-year veteran teacher and music specialist at Old Bonham Elementary, for being named a quarterfinalist for the 2027 Music Educator Award by the Recording Academy and GRAMMY Museum out of more than 2,100 national nominees.
