Keeping Our Water Safe

The Ladue School District is committed to our students and staff’s safety and well-being. In alignment with that commitment and compliance with the new Missouri state law, Get the Lead Out of School Drinking Water Act, the district is in the process of testing our water. Specifically, each possible intended drinking and food preparation (including utensil cleaning) source in our schools and buildings will be sampled and tested to ensure the lead concentration in the water is below the required action level of 5 parts per billion (ppb), which is equal to 5 milligrams per liter.

The regulation calls for the testing of drinking water outlets. A drinking water outlet includes any potable water fixture that is used or potentially used for drinking, food preparation, cooking, or cleaning kitchen utensils, including but not limited to water fountains or coolers, bottle fillers, ice machines, faucets, hydrants, spigots, or taps. The 5 ppb level required by the state is below the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) recommended action level of 15 ppb.

The law specifies that all preschool through 12th-grade schools that receive state funding have until Aug. 1, 2024, to complete testing. Ladue School District is currently in the process of performing the testing. Testing began during winter break and will be complete by the end of May. As results are received, they will be made available on this site. Our students and staff's safety and health are our highest priority, and we will work diligently to rectify any source that is out of compliance.
