Counseling
The comprehensive school counseling program is integral to a school district’s total educational program. It is developmental by design and includes sequential activities organized and implemented by school counselors with the active support of parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and the community. As a developmental program, it addresses the needs of all students by facilitating their social/emotional, academic, and career development, helping create positive and safe learning climates in schools, and helping students feel connected to school and at least one caring adult. At the same time, the program assists students as they face issues and resolve problems that prevent their healthy development. The school counseling program aims to provide kindergarten through grade 12 students with successful educational experiences.
Vision Statement
The Ladue School District school counseling program will empower every student to become a lifelong learner, a responsible and contributing member of a global society, and achieve their highest potential.
Mission Statement
The Ladue School District school counseling program offers services to all students, regardless of their identity, to ensure equity and access for each unique student and their limitless learning possibilities. By involving parents/guardians, the community, and all school partners, we aim to create and advocate for a learning environment where each student's personal, academic, and future-ready skills are supported and challenged to enhance student outcomes.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports
School counselors directly intervene and indirectly support students through a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS). MTSS is a culturally sustaining, evidence-based framework implemented in pre-K–12 schools using data-based problem-solving to integrate academic and behavioral instruction and intervention at tiered intensities to improve the learning and social/emotional functioning of all students (Sink, 2016). Guided by student-centered data, MTSS teams engage in cyclical, data-based problem-solving; make informed decisions about general, compensatory, and special education; and assist in creating a well-integrated, seamless system of instruction and intervention (Ehren, Montgomery, Rudebush, & Whitmire, 2006).
