Goals of the Program
-
To help students develop an appreciation for books and reading
-
To provide each Ladue School building with a safe, welcoming space for the entire school community
- To foster a positive relationship between the library and the school community; to foster an understanding of libraries and librarians as a lifelong resource for curricular and personal information needs.
- To help students utilize libraries effectively and independently (self-advocacy)
- To provide a diverse collection of reading material that provides mirrors, windows, and doors
- To help students develop critical thinking skills and information literacy
- To support all staff members by providing access to materials, information, and other resources as needed
The Ladue Libraries provide the Ladue Schools community with valuable services and resources. There is a library staffed with at least one certificated librarian in each of our K-12 schools. The library is a place of both instruction and personal growth for all users, and it is vital that the services and resources of the library are of the highest quality.
Ladue Librarians are educators who take on several different roles in running the library program, including teacher, instructional partner, information specialist, and library administrator. This document specifically outlines the instructional duties of school librarians in Ladue School District, with a focus on the learner.
For more information about other duties and responsibilities of Ladue Librarians, please refer to the Library Handbook.
