Peter Gariepy

A smiling man in a gray suit and tie stands against a blue background.

My name is Peter Gariepy (rhymes with “therapy”), and I am privileged to be serving my first term as Secretary of the Ladue Schools Board of Education. My wife and I are the proud parents of two Reed Elementary Panthers (our fourth-grade daughter and first-grade son). Professionally, I am a CPA in the tax department at RubinBrown. During my time on the Board, I have been proud to support investments and policies to enhance student and staff safety, as well as the early retirement of bond debt that saved taxpayers over $2 million in interest expenses. Ladue’s educators and administrators are true professionals, and I am continuously grateful for the opportunity to learn from and support their work. I view my role as a steward of our community’s beloved school district, and I respectfully request your vote to continue this important work.

Why are you running for the Ladue Schools Board of Education?

I am running to ensure Ladue Schools continues to have a positive, lifelong impact on every child entrusted to our care. I remain deeply focused on supporting college and career readiness for all students. This work has no endpoint; I am not looking to simply "finish" a task, but to foster continuous improvement in educational and social growth for students of every grade level. It is a privilege to serve this community, and with your support, I will continue to work collaboratively for the students, staff, and families who make our district exemplary.

What do you think are key issues facing the Ladue Schools Board of Education in the next two or three years?

First, we must navigate emerging fiscal obstacles. We need to keep investing in the facilities and educators that deliver for our students, but we must do so while maintaining our fiscal durability. This means protecting our AAA bond rating and keeping our tax levy at the state minimum ($2.75) by thoughtfully utilizing our taxpayers’ resources. Second, we must continue prioritizing the safety and well-being of our students and staff through thoughtful policy and sustained investment. Finally, we must support the careers of our stellar educators by identifying best practices that allow them to thrive professionally within the district.
