Goble Named Assistant Baseball Coach of the Year

Broadcast Technology Teacher Don Goble’s talents extend beyond the classroom and the camera.  Goble was recently named Missouri Assistant Baseball Coach of the Year by the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association.

LHWHS Players Named to Suburban South Conference Soccer Teams

The following Ladue Horton Watkins High School students and soccer players have been named to all-conference teams in the Suburban South Conference.  Players are selected by coaches of other teams for this honor.

First Team- Eric Petersen (Junior)  and Eric Stuber (Junior)

Second Team- Nathan Rushing (Junior) and Michael Kelly (Senior)

Honorable Mentions- Steven Orgill (Junior) and Michael Wielansky (Sophomore)

Old Bonhomme’s Grench Takes First in 5K

Giselle Grench, a fourth-grader at Old Bonhomme Elementary took first place in the women’s division of the Olivette on the Go 5K run in late September.  Included here is a picture of Giselle collecting her $150 check for her achievement.

Anderson and Clawson Selected Suburban East Coaches of the Year

Two Ladue Schools coaches have led their teams to win the Suburban East Conference championships, and were thereby selected as  Suburban East Coaches of the Year for the 2011-12 school year.  Chad Anderson is the head boys varsity basketball coach and Clawson is head coach for varsity wrestling.

Garrett Again Selected as Suburban East Coach of the Year

For the third year in a row, Ladue Varsity Baseball Head Coach Rob Garrett was selected as the Suburban East Coach of the Year.  This is Coach Garrett’s third consecutive Coach of the Year award.  Coach Garrett has led the Varsity Baseball team to 75 wins and 4 Conference Championships during his four years as head coach.  Coach Garrett is also the physical education teacher at Spoede Elementary School.

LHWHS Gannon Pitches Perfect Game

Hands down, this was the No. 1 story in Ladue this past week. Fifteen batters went to the plate and Ladue hurler Greg Gannon did not allow one single batter to reach first base, achieving the the first perfect game in 58 years.

Reed Skater Helps Team Make Missouri Sports History

The St. Louis Synergy Preliminary Team took the gold medal at the U.S. Figure Skating Midwestern Sectionals for Synchronized Skating in Plymouth, Michigan. The team, based out of the Webster Groves Ice Arena, is part of the Metro Edge Figure Staking Club of Missouri and consists of skaters from the St. Louis area, including Reed Elementary School’s Bree Baker.  This is the first time a Missouri team has ever earned a gold medal at Midwestern Sectional competition.

LHWHS Wrestling Team Wins Chaminade Tournament

At the time of this posting, the Ladue Horton Watkins High School wrestling team is three weeks into the season and undefeated.  On Saturday, December 17, 2011, the team added the Red Devils Duals title by winning the tournament hosted by Chaminade.

LHWHS Head Football Coach Named Suburban East Conference Coach Third Year Running

Mike Tarpey was named Suburban East Conference Coach of the Year for the third year in a row.  Tarpey coached the Ladue Horton Watkins High School Varsity football team to the 2011 Suburban East Conference Championship.
