Former Ladue Schools Coach Honored with Surprise Birthday Bash

Coach Ralph Engelmeyer worked in the Ladue School District for more than thirty years, from 1958 – 1992.   When word got around that Coach Engelmeyer wasn’t in the best of health, his former colleagues, as well as graduates from the ‘60s and ‘80s when his son graduated, threw him a surprise party.  On October 10, 2014 more than seventy guests, including former coaches and counselors, gathered at the Ladue Fifth Grade Center gym to honor the man who was a role model for many students.

Ladue Alumni Gear Up for First “Alumni Football Classic”

The Ladue Alumni Sports Committee (LASC) is hosting the first-ever Ladue Alumni Football Classic on Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the Ladue West Campus located at 10900 Ladue Rd. from 12 – 5 p.m.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend this game featuring alumni talent in every capacity — from the players, to the cheerleaders, to the entertainers.  Former Ladue Horton Watkins High School (LHWHS) football coach, Jerry Maher will serve as honorary coach.

LHWHS Soccer Player Michael Wielansky Named Fox2/Arby’s Athlete of the Week.

On November 8, 2014, Michael Wielansky was chosen as the Fox 2/Arby’s Athlete of the Week.  See the story aired on Fox 2.  

 

 

 

LHWHS Boys Varsity Soccer Team Wins District Championship

LHWHS Junior Chris Naunheim led the Rams to victory over rival Clayton 1-0 to claim the Class 3 District 5 championship at MICDS.  This is the third year in a row that the varsity soccer team won the district championship.  The team will advance to the sectional round. Way to go Rams and coaches Dave Aronberg and Kevin Davis!

LHWHS Field Hockey Team Wins Tournament and Coach’s Award

The Ladue Horton Watkins High School (LHWHS) Field Hockey Team won the Public Schools Tournament on October 18, 2014 – a first for LHWHS. To top it off, Coach Barb Dwyer was selected by her peers to receive the Janet Esrock Coach of the Year Award for 2014.  This award is given to coaches who have a passion for coaching and a strong desire for competition to be at the highest possible level.

Coach Harder Inducted into Hall of Fame

Coach Keith Harder has been elected into the Missouri Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (MTCCCA) Hall of Fame.  Keith has been the head Boys Track coach since 1996 and the head Girls Track coach since 2003.

Harder’s programs to date have produced 286 state medals, the second highest among active coaches, and produced champions in 34 events.  His teams have either broken, or still hold, nine state records.  Under Harder’s leadership, Ladue Horton Watkins High School (LHWHS) has earned 14 state (top four) trophies including three state championships, 29 conference championships, and seven district championships.

Old Bonhomme’s Jim Places First in State

Justin Jim, a kindergartener at Old Bonhomme Elementary School placed first in the Missouri State Boys Gymnastic Championship.  Jim participated in the 4-5-year-old age category.

Laduettes Awarded Two Firsts in Lindbergh Dance Competition

On Saturday, December 7, 2013, the Laduettes Dance Team received two first place awards at the 2013 Lindbergh Yvonne Cole International Dance Competition.  In addition to earning first place in both the Hip Hop and Pom competitions, the team took home a Judge’s Award for Outstanding Showmanship in Hip Hop.

Boys Varsity Soccer Finishes Strong with All-Conference Recognitions

Coach Matt Prange was named Suburban South Conference Coach of the Year with Varsity Boys players also earning All-Conference recognition.
