LMS Duo Wins Composition Contest Three Years Running

COMP Winners

On Thursday, April 9, 2013, Julie Tristan of KSDK’s Show Me St. Louis interviewed LMS students Ande Siegel and Menea Kefalov for winning first place in the Creating Original Music Project (COMP) for the third year in a row.  The segment, featuring Ande and Menea singing their song “WAR,” appeared on Show Me St. Louis at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11 on KSDK Channel 5.

LMS Hosts Korean Folk Music & Dance Company

On November 16, 2012, Ladue Middle School hosted Madang, a traditional Korean Folk Music and Dance performance.  Dr. Kim Song, mother of seventh-grader Daniel Song, works with the Korean American Association and coordinated the visit.  The performers were in St. Louis to provide workshops and performances at Washington University and the Ethical Society, but made time in their schedule to visit Ladue Middle School and do a workshop for students.

Three Ladue Ensembles Featured at MMEA 2013

Congratulations to the Ladue Horton Watkins High School Symphonic Percussion Ensemble, directed by Michael Faris; the Ladue Horton Watkins High School Symphonic Band, directed by Aaron Lehde and Scott Harris; and the Ladue Middle School Treble Chamber Singers, directed by Brandon Williams.  These three ensembles were selected through a blind audition, out of 196 state-wide applicants, to perform at the 2013 Missouri Music Educators Association Convention.

The students and directors will travel to Tan-tar-a on Friday, January 25, 2012 to present concerts modeling exemplary performance and literature for Missouri music teachers and college students.

LMS Orchestra Students Attend St. Louis Suburban Music Educators’ Solo and Ensemble Festival

On Saturday, April 14, 2012, students from the Ladue Middle School orchestra program participated in the St. Louis Suburban Music Educators’ Solo and Ensemble Festival. The following students participated:

Reed Students Win Song-Writing Contest – Again!

For the second year in a row, two Reed Elementary School students won the C.O.M.P. song-writing contest sponsored by the University of Missouri.  Ande Siegel and Menea Kefalov, composed and performed an original song entitled “War”.  The girls won the same competition last year for a different song.  Learn more by clicking on the video link to a story featured on KSDK’s Show-Me St. Louis.

LHWHS Senior Dageforde Chosen to Visit White House

The National Blues Museum (NBM), a not-for-profit educational institution and planned museum, hosted ten St. Louis high school juniors and seniors, including Ladue Horton Watkins High School Senior Bea Dageforde (fourth from left), at the White House for an educational program celebrating blues music.  The program was hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama.

LMS’ Brandon Williams Touts “Play It Forward”

Founded by Samantha Fisher, the Play It Forward STL organization was created with the belief that no child should be denied his or her musical voice. The organization believes it is the community’s responsibility, and obligation, to ensure kids have every chance to explore their musical passion.
