Fifteen Ladue Horton Watkins High School Seniors to Participate in Ceremonial Signing Celebration

On Wednesday, 15 seniors from Ladue Horton Watkins High School attended a Ceremonial Signing Celebration to share the news of their commitment to attend and play a sport for universities across the country.

Ladue Grad Named 2016 NCAC Newcomer of the Year

Michael WielanskyA Ladue graduate is making a name for himself at The College of Wooster for his performance on the baseball team. Michael Wielansky, a freshman shortstop and 2015 LHWHS graduate, was voted the 2016 North Coast Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year and was recognized with all-conference honors.

According to the program, Wielansky has been a sensational addition to the program, hitting at a .392 clip with 17 doubles, five triples, seven home runs, and 51 RBI. He leads the league in several significant categories, including runs scored (56), hits (69), homers, and RBI, and sits fifth in average, second in doubles, tied for third in triples, second in slugging percentage (.665), eighth in walks (26), third in on-base percentage (.474), and third in stolen bases (17). As impressive as his offensive numbers are, Wielansky’s defense truly separates him as the slick-fielding shortstop: he has a school-record 156 assists while posting a .964 fielding percentage at the most challenging position.

Senior Baseball Player Chosen for 2016 Delta Dental All Star Game

Congratulations to senior Ren Martin on being chosen to represent LHWHS at the 2016 Delta Dental High School All-Star game! Ren is a pitcher and plays left field.

Each year, one deserving, graduating senior on the team’s roster is chosen to join one of two All Star teams. This year’s game will be held on June 6 at Busch Stadium.

“Ren has been a strong player and leader for us this season,” coach Rob Garret said. “He is a hard worker and great competitor, and he has come through with some very clutch plays for us this year both in the field and at the plate.”

Hundreds of Students Awarded Baseball Tickets for Great Grades

Nearly half of Ladue Horton Watkins High School’s students will be rewarded for their good grades with baseball tickets!

The St. Louis Cardinals in conjunction with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Newspapers in Education Program are bestowing the tickets through the Straight A Student Program for academic excellence. About 650 students qualified with a 3.7 or high GPA for the 2015-2016 fall semester.

LHWHS Buckner’s Perfect Game Scores Athlete of the Week

Ladue Horton Watkins High School sophomore, Ty Buckner, pitched a perfect game on March 25, 2015 against Parkway West.  The 2-0 win came after Buckner retired 21 batters in 67 pitches with 6 strike outs.  Fox 2 News named Buckner Athlete of the Week.

Ten LHWHS Seniors Celebrate Ceremonial College Signing

It was a day to remember for ten Ladue Horton Watkins High School (LHWHS) seniors who signed letters of intent to join sport teams at colleges and universities across the country.  The ceremonial signing took place on February 4, 2015, in the LHWHS cafeteria.

2009 LHWHS Grad Logan Uxa Drafted by Cincinnati Reds

As reported by KATV in Jonesboro, Arkansas…

JONESBORO — Arkansas State senior Logan Uxa was selected in the 32nd round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. He was the 975th player taken overall was the second A-State player chosen by Cincinnati.  The Reds also drafted A-State senior pitcher Daniel Wright on Friday in the 10th round.

LHWHS Seniors Kaplan and Ewald Named All-Stars

Seniors Lex Kaplan and Rob Ewald have both been selected to play under the lights of Busch Stadium on June 14, 2013 in the PNC Baseball All-Star Game.

Spoede’s Rob Garrett is the Suburban East Varsity Baseball Coach of the Year

Congratulations to Varsity Baseball Head Coach Rob Garrett. Coach Garrett was named the Suburban East Coach of the Year at the 2013 All-Conference meeting. The team finished the regular season with a record of 17-3.

Coach Garrett began his coaching career at Ladue in 1996. In his first five seasons as head coach, the varsity baseball team has won 94 games and 5 conference titles. Coach Garrett teaches Physical Education at Spoede Elementary School.

LHWHS Senior Kaplan Honored for Varsity Baseball Performance

On Thursday April 18, 2013, Ladue Varsity Baseball player Lex Kaplan was honored by the Missouri Baseball Hall of Fame, as a finalist for the Rising Star Award. Kaplan was one of five baseball players in the greater St. Louis area to receive this honor. Congratulations, Lex!
