2009 LHWHS Grad Logan Uxa Drafted by Cincinnati Reds

As reported by KATV in Jonesboro, Arkansas…

JONESBORO — Arkansas State senior Logan Uxa was selected in the 32nd round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. He was the 975th player taken overall was the second A-State player chosen by Cincinnati.  The Reds also drafted A-State senior pitcher Daniel Wright on Friday in the 10th round.

2012 Graduate – Emily Warner Top Runner at Washington University

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – One of the nation’s top middle distance runners for Washington University, Emily Warner, has the sixth best time this year in the 800-meters in Division III.  But, her competition isn’t the person in the other lane. She competes against herself.

1998 Ladue Schools Alumni To Appear on “The Tonight Show”

As reported on Patch.com on March 27,2013…

The last time he appeared as a guest on The Tonight ShowJustin Willman performed a magic trick that involved a cup of soda over the head of Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman in December.

Now, just a few months later, Willman, host of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network as well as a touring magician/entertainer with a thing for the sleight of hand, will be back on the program Wednesday.

2012 Graduate Lauren Younge Has Solo Art Exhibition

Lauren Younge, who graduated from Ladue Horton Watkins High School in 2012 and is currently a freshman at Southeast Missouri State University, participated in a solo art exhibition at the University City Library Gallery.  Younge exhibited work produced in her Advanced Placement Studio Art class in 2012.

LHWHS Alumnus Featured in St. Louis Post Article 2/17/12

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch recently featured a story about three Ladue Horton Watkins High School alumni: Martin Goebel, Class of 2000, and two former school mates and 1999 graduates, Nick Leidenfrost and Noah Alexander (pictured.) Goebel is the owner of Goebel & Company Furniture.  The article outlines the unique beginnings of this company which designs and manufactures residential wood furniture company.

Goebel credits his initial interest in woodworking to teacher Bill McCoy of Ladue Horton Watkins High School.

 

LHWHS Alum Wang Authors Article in Chemical Journal

2011 graduate Melissa Wang recently co-authored an article in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.  The article is entitled:  “Structural and Kinetic Analysis of the Unnatural Fusion Protein 4-Coumaroyl-CoA Ligase::Stilbene Synthase”

Ladue Schools Alum Joe Weil Premiers Latest Film

Class of 2010 Ladue Alum Joe Weil, successfully premiered his latest film Welcome to Shirley at the Tivoli on January 3, 2012. Many former Ladue Schools students took part in
the production, including Executive Producer Blake Lawrence. KSDK was there to cover the opening, as was Patch.com.

Tara Siesener Plays Lead Role in “Hairspray” for Cruise Line

Ladue Horton Watkins High School graduate, Tara Siesener, is currently playing Tracy Turnblad, the lead role in the musical Hairspray, aboard the Oasis of the Seas cruise ship.  This is the first full scale Broadway production aboard a cruise ship and Siesener says, “I’m having a blast!” Siesener formerly played the role of Turnblad in the Las Vegas Company of Hairspray and is delighted to be continuing the role aboard the Oasis of the Seas.
