OBE’s Brown Receives National Recognition in Education

Old Bonhomme’s Patricia Brown was honored as a 2015 PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator! Patricia has been the elementary technology integration coach at Old Bonhomme Elementary School since 2010.

This year, Patricia was selected as one of thirty top educators in the country to participate in the the program. Patricia will receive a tablet computer and year-long professional development opportunities!

Reed Elementary Teacher Receives $1,000 Grant

Karen Engelkenjohn, a Gifted Specialist at Reed Elementary School, received a $1,000 grant from Monsanto on the first day of school that will be used to buy agriculturally-focused kits for students.  Karen said she was invited to apply for the Dannette Ward Science Education Grant because the school had hosted a Science Night the year before and had invited Monsanto employees to join in the fun.

Choir Director Honored with Presidential Award of Excellence

Ladue Schools would like to congratulate one of our esteemed staff members for being awarded the Missouri Choral Director’s Association 2015 “Presidential Award of Excellence!”

Thomas Lowery is the choir director for Ladue Horton Watkins High School and the Ladue Fifth Grade Center. He also teaches Introduction to Piano and is the vocal coach for the Spring Musical.

“I was humbled when I heard I was selected,” he said. “It’s an honor when somebody recognizes the work that you’ve done.”

LMS Students Interview Academy Award Winner

Two Ladue Middle School students shone brightly at the International Literacy Association Conference last weekend, where they had the opportunity to interview keynote speaker and Academy Award Winner Octavia Spencer.

The event was held at America’s Center where, on a stage in front of thousands of guests, students Dale Chesson and Kiara Crawford spoke with Octavia, best known for starring in films like “The Help” and “Black and White.”

LMS’ Taylor-Johnson Honored with 2015 Excellence in Education Award

Congratulations to Ladue Middle School Associate Principal Tiffany Taylor-Johnson who received the prestigious 2015 Excellence in Education Award at the St. Louis American Foundation’s 28th Annual Salute to Excellence in Education Scholarship & Awards Gala!

The St. Louis American published a profile of Tiffany, which painted  painted a picture of Dr. Tiffany’s approach to education through her own word, and also aptly captured her personality and dedication to her students and to her school through vignettes.

FGC’s Guthrie Receives April 2015 Excellence in Education Award

Fifth Grade Center’s Communications Arts/Social Studies Teacher Lynda Guthrie received the April 2015 Excellence in Education Award.

“When I look at placing a student who requires a loving and compassionate teacher, but one who will be structured and provide high standards for learning, Lynda is the first teacher that comes to mind,” says Amy Balsavias, counselor at the Fifth Grade Center.

Old Bonhomme’s Jander’s Piece Playce Featured in Teachers’ Publication

Old Bonhomme Physical Education Teacher Connie Jander’s Piece Playce project was featured in the Spring 2015 issue of the Missouri State Teachers Association publication.

Connie wrote the article about the objective of turning playtime into a learning adventure at a spot in the schoolyard called Piece Playce.

LHWHS’ Erwin Ends 2014-15 School Year With Honors

Ladue Horton Watkins High School’s DECA Advisor Fran Erwin received the DECA Diamond Award for 2014-2015.  The award is given to the DECA advisor who has contributed the most during the school year.

Jahnke Named New Superintendent of the Year

Superintendent Dr. Donna Jahnke was named New Superintendent of the Year by the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) for outstanding performance as a new superintendent.  Dr. Jahnke became superintendent for Ladue Schools in July 2013 and accepted the award at the annual MASA Spring Conference on March 25, 2015.

Ladue Middle School’s Taylor-Johnson Surprised By Award

Ladue Middle School Associate Principal Tiffany Taylor-Johnson has been named Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year.
