LHWHS Graduate Speaks Out on Diversity in NY Magazine

Ladue Horton Watkins High School graduate Jill Bloomberg is the principal of Park Slope Collegiate and speaks out on diversity and education in this New York Magazine article entitled: New York State Has the Most Segregated Schools in the Nation.  

 

Alumnus Continues Speech and Debate Success

Jerome Gregory (class of 2013) placed 5th in After Dinner Speaking at the American Forensic Association (AFA) national tournament. He was also a quarterfinalist in Communication Analysis and Impromptu Speaking. The AFA is the premier collegiate national speech and debate tournament.

Ladue Graduate Matt Hirschfeld Designs NBC’s Emmy Campaign

Los Angeles based illustrator Matt Hirschfeld (Ladue HW class of 1998) was commissioned last summer by NBC/Universal Television to create several drawings for their annual Emmy campaign in Variety Magazine. These ads featured several hit shows which included Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, The Office and Saturday Night Live.

Graduate Goebel Gives LHWHS Credit in Success

2000 graduate, Martin Goebel, owner of Goebel Furniture, credits the beginning of his interest in wood working to his experience at Ladue Horton Watkins High School and teachers Bill McCoy and Steve Schmidt.

Ladue Graduate Padawer Appears on “Shark Tank”

St. Louis native, and 1996 Ladue Horton Watkins High School graduate, Lauren Padawer appeared on the television show Shark Tank on January 17, 2014.  Shark Tank features “self-made millionaires” searching for businesses in which to invest.  Padawer is the owner of Alaska Glacial Mud Co., a company she founded in 2001.

2008 Graduate Heidenreich Pays It Forward as a Resource Teacher

Emma Heidenreich, a 2008 graduate of Ladue Horton Watkins High School and recent graduate of the University of Kansas is now a resource teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District. Emma recently completed her own personal campaign to raise private funds to buy iPads for her students at Brookridge Elementary School in Kansas City.  She is shown here featured on the cover of the University of Kansas School of Education Alumni Magazine.

2009 Graduate Betsy Crowder to Intern for German Parliament

Ladue Horton Watkins High School graduate Betsy Crowder has recently been accepted as an intern for a member of the German Parliament.  She will be in Germany from March to August 2014 for this program funded by the German government through an International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) program.  Betsy is also a 2013 graduate of Washington University.

2012 Graduate Chesson Scores Against Akron

2012 Ladue Horton Watkins High School graduate Jehu Chesson captured after scoring a touchdown for the University of Michigan in a game against Akron University on September 14, 2013.  Final score: 28-24

2013 Graduate Victor Wang Earns Gold Medal at International Mathematical Olympiad

Official results of the 54th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), held this month in Santa Marta, Colombia, show the United States in third place, behind China (1) and South Korea (2). Russia (4) and North Korea (5) round out the top five. Complete rankings of the more than 90 countries that participated are available here.

2010 Graduate Eli Weigley Recognized for Academic Achievement by Basketball Coaches Honors Court

University of Missouri–St. Louis senior-to-be Eli Weigley has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court for his success in the classroom during the 2012-13 year.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts of student-athletes off the court and the work they exhibit in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. This includes being a junior or senior varsity athlete with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the 2012-2013 academic year, with at least one year of matriculation at their current institution.
