New Early Childhood Center Opens

On September 12, 2011, the Ladue Early Childhood Center began classes at the center’s new location at 10890 Ladue Road in Creve Coeur, MO.

It is Ladue School District’s first completely new facility in over 30 years.  The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget and will begin its first year with over 300 students enrolled in one or more of the many classes and programs offered.

LHWHS Link Crew Hosts Regional Conference

On October 13th, Ladue Horton Watkins High School played host to over 200 students from surrounding Missouri and Indiana schools for a special Link Crew Conference.

Link Crew serves as a program that assists transitioning freshmen students from middle school to high school. The goal is to “link” each freshman with one or more upper-classmen who can act as mentors during the 9th graders’ early weeks of high school, and beyond. The freshmen automatically become connected to the school in ways that might otherwise have been unthinkable.

Ladue Schools Receives Distinction in Performance Award for Tenth Year Running

Ladue School District has once again received the Distinction in Performance Award, as it has each of the eleven years of the program’s existence.  Of the 522 public school districts in Missouri, 361 (or 69 percent) received the award for 2011.  Only 32 districts (or 6 percent) have received the award each of the ten years.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education gives the Distinction in Performance recognition to K-12 school districts meeting at least thirteen out of fourteen state performance standards, including all six Missouri Assessment Program standards.

Convocation Videos 2011

Convocation is an annual program held first thing in the morning on the first day all teachers return to begin the new school year.  The 2011 Convocation was presented in a talk-show format showcasing the amazing talents and energy of four Ladue Horton Watkins High School Students who hosted ‘Due Talk.  Many thanks to Jody Peterson, Jehu Chesson, Alex Mitchell and David Streid who helped the district start the school year off right.

Two videos were created for Convocation this year.  You’ll want to see the annual “Convocation Video” which showcases many of our faculty members in action, as well as “Teachers Hobbies” which uncovers some of the many hidden talents of our staff.

Ladue Schools Receives “Total Fleet Excellence Award”

Ladue Schools was presented with a “Total Fleet Excellence Award” from the Missouri State Highway Patrol on July 6, 2011 for receiving a 95.5 percent approval rating of the district’s student transportation fleet.  Ladue Schools was one of 268 school bus transportation providers in Missouri to receive this award given to fleets with a 90 percent or higher approval rating and no out-of-service buses. 

New Newsweek Ranking Methodology Moves Ladue Horton Watkins High School Up to #103

Every year, Newsweek ranks “America’s Best High Schools.”  This year, a new methodology for ranking the nation’s top high schools was used, raising Ladue Horton Watkins High School from last year’s ranking of 282 in the country, to 103.

Produced in the spring of 2011, this video provides an overview of the Ladue School District. Facts, recognitions and the district’s philosophies are highlighted in this seven-minute film created by Don Goble, the head of the district’s Video Broadcast department, in collaboration with the district’s Communications Services Department.

2010 Graduate of Ladue Horton Watkins High School Abby Sophir produced this music video, in which nearly the entire high school faculty busted out their best dance moves to celebrate the 2010 senior class.  As of September 19, 2011, there were 10,171 viewings on youtube.com and 9,878 people viewings on schooltube.com.  Watch it again now… You know you want to!
