Speech and Debate Members Compete in National Tournament

Eleven members of the speech and debate team competed in the National Speech and Debate Association’s National Tournament last week. The tournament takes place over six days and was held in Birmingham, Alabama.

Ladue was represented by the following students:

Noah DiAntonio (12) and Maya Mutic (12) – Policy Debate
Patrick Naughton (12) and Aramis Rickey (12) – Policy Debate
Levi Dyson (11) – Congressional Debate – House
Albert Liu (11) – Congressional Debate – House
Edward Wu (11) – Congressional Debate – Senate
Max Kornfeld (10) – International Extemporaneous Speaking
Olivia Liu (10) – Original Oratory
Hale Masaki (10) – United States Extemporaneous Speaking
Ande Siegel (10) Humorous Interpretation

Edward Wu was elected Presiding Officer of his chamber.

Patrick Naughton and Edward Wu placed in the Top 50 in Extemporaneous Debate. This is the largest event offered at the tournament with almost 900 competitors.

Patrick Naughton and Aramis Rickey placed in the Top 60 in Policy Debate.

Noah DiAntonio and Maya Mutic placed in the Top 50 in Policy Debate.
