LHWHS Speech and Debate Team Qualifies for State Tournament

The speech and debate team competed in the MSHSAA District Tournament, held at Parkway South High School on the 27th and 28th of February.

The following entries qualified to the MSHSAA State Speech & Debate Tournament:

– Senior Benjamin Collinger: second place in Policy Debate with a 6-0 record in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking

– Junior Rasika Sant: second place in Policy Debate with a 6-0 record

– Senior Miriam Hauptman: second place in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking

– Junior Jackie Wong: third place in Humorous Interpretation 

Spoede Elementary School Hosts MATH FACT SCHOLARS

MATH FACT SCHOLARS is a weekly math-testing program that provides Pre-K to sixth grade students with the opportunity to advance their math skills – earning ribbons, medals and trophies along the way!  Students work at their own pace through seven skill levels:

The Gift Resource Council hosted the Academic Challenge Cup on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Reed Elementary’s Zahm Receives February 2015 Education in Excellence Award

Carolyn Zahm, reading specialist at Reed Elementary, received the February 2015 Excellence in Education Award. She has been at Reed Elementary since 1995, beginning as a teacher’s assistant for Special Services and Developmental Kindergarten.

Old Bonhomme Third and Fourth Graders Compete in Equations Tournament

Thirty-two third and fourth-graders from Old Bonhomme Elementary School participated in the Equations Tournament at University of Missouri at St. Louis on February 24, 2015. 

LHWHS’ Espinosa Places Third in State Wrestling Championships

Ladue Horton Watkins High School Senior Justin Espinosa finishes his last year as part of the Rams wrestling team with an impressive 50-3 record and third place in the state championship in the 113 lb. weight class.

LMS Science Bowl Team Takes First Place in Local Competition

Four Ladue Middle School eighth-graders wowed the audience with their brilliance, ability to reason, content knowledge and sportsmanship at the Missouri Regional Middle School Science Bowl. The competition was held at Washington University in St. Louis on February 21, 2015. 

LHWHS’ Panorama Sports Editor Aaron Bry Receives Prestigious Honor

Ladue Horton Watkins High School Senior Aaron Bry has been named a Walter Williams Scholar in the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri at Columbia. 

1969 LHWHS Grad Receives Distinguished Alumnus Award from University of Illinois College of Medicine

Ladue Horton Watkins High School graduate, class of 1969, Dr. Steven Averbuch was presented with the 2014 Distinguished Alumnus Award by the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He was honored at the Reunion Dinner and Gala on September 19-20, 2014.

LHWHS Speech & Debate Team Takes Third Place in Competition

More than a dozen Ladue Horton Watkins High School students came home winners from the Marquette Invitational Tournament held on February 13-14, 2015 in Chesterfield, Missouri.
