Dr. Donna Jahnke Appointed Next Ladue Schools Superintendent

On February 26, 2013, the Board of Education voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Donna Jahnke, a 22-year veteran of the Ladue School District, as its next superintendent.  Dr. Jahnke will begin her new role July 1, 2013, after finishing her current contract as Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.

Spoede’s Johnson Receives February 2013 Excellence in Education Award

Jennifer Johnson, a second-grade teacher at Spoede Elementary School, received the February 2013 Excellence in Education Award at the February 26, 2013 Board of Education meeting.  Jennifer came to the Ladue School District in 1988 and was a Computer Lab Teacher at Conway Elementary during her first year with the district.

Reed’s Plogger Receives January 2013 Excellence in Education Award

Kim Plogger, a physical education teacher at Reed Elementary School, received the January 2013 Excellence in Education Award at the January 28, 2013 Board of Education meeting.  Kim is from Kansas City, Kansas and started as a Physical Education teacher at Reed Elementary School in 2003.  During her tenure at Reed, Kim has made significant, positive changes for staff, students, parents and the whole Reed community.

LMS Sixth-Graders Win NFL Ram’s “2013 Play 60 Challenge”

Ladue Middle School sixth-graders won the NFL St. Louis Ram’s “2013 Play 60 Challenge.” Below are pictures from the sixth-grades field trip to Rams Park, part of the reward for dedicating themselves to winning this prestigious award.

13 Seniors Are Finalists in 2013 National Merit Scholarship Competition

On January 31, 2013, the following Ladue Horton Watkins High School seniors were announced to be finalists in the National Merit Scholarships Competition.  All semi-finalists announced earlier this year were also named as finalists.

LMS Math Team Excels at Regional Mathcounts Competition

The Ladue Middle School (LMS) Math team participated in the Mathcounts Regional Competition on February 16, 2013.  The following students represented LMS: Ben Phung, Justin Chen, Albert Lui, Alex Tan, Hans Chan, Seema Patil, Barath Palanisamy, Patrick Hwang, and Kevin Jiang.

LHWHS Science Olympiad Team Places Second in Region

The Ladue Horton Watkins High School Science Olympiad Team placed second in the Regional Tournament behind John Burroughs School.  The team placed in 18 of the 23 events, taking away nine gold mdals, four silver medals, three bronze medals and two honorable mentions.  

DECA Students Qualify for State Conference

Seventeen DECA students qualified for the State DECA Career Development Conference by competing at the DECA District CDC. These students competed in Principles of Business Administration, Individual Series, Team Decision-Making, Business Management, and Entrepreneurship Events against students from 13 different school districts in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Old Bonhomme Recognized as Missouri State School of Character

Old Bonhomme Elementary School is one of only 15 schools in Missouri to receive the State School of Character designation.  The program is conducted by CHARACTERplus®, a division of Cooperating School Districts, and is the most rigorous award process in the field of character education.

LHWHS Junior Cornell Johnston Featured on KSDK

(KSDK Sports) — One of the most exciting high school basketball players in the area is a “living” testament to the power of determination.  Sports Director Rene Knott has seen him play and he just catches your eye.  He’s the “smallest” guy on the floor, yet, he always seems to do “big” things.  Meet Ladue Schools’ Junior Varsity guard: Cornell Johnston.
