LHWHS Players Named to Suburban South Conference Soccer Teams

The following Ladue Horton Watkins High School students and soccer players have been named to all-conference teams in the Suburban South Conference.  Players are selected by coaches of other teams for this honor.

First Team- Eric Petersen (Junior)  and Eric Stuber (Junior)

Second Team- Nathan Rushing (Junior) and Michael Kelly (Senior)

Honorable Mentions- Steven Orgill (Junior) and Michael Wielansky (Sophomore)

“Ladue View” Places 7th in “Best of Show” Contest

The student staff producers of Ladue View placed seventh in this year’s National Scholastic Press Association’s Best of Show contest. This is the most prestigious category for this competition, where schools from every state in the country submit their television shows for entry.  This is the first ever such recognition for our high school’s show.

LMS Hosts Korean Folk Music & Dance Company

On November 16, 2012, Ladue Middle School hosted Madang, a traditional Korean Folk Music and Dance performance.  Dr. Kim Song, mother of seventh-grader Daniel Song, works with the Korean American Association and coordinated the visit.  The performers were in St. Louis to provide workshops and performances at Washington University and the Ethical Society, but made time in their schedule to visit Ladue Middle School and do a workshop for students.

Olivette, MO (KSDK) – Drive around any neighborhood and you’ll probably see somebody in the middle of some sort of project. But the project that just wrapped up at a house in Olivette required more than a hammer and nails.

iAm Ladue Rises Quickly on the HEC-TV Charts

With only two editions completed, iAm Ladue is the #1 Top Collection of all HEC-TV shows.  In addition, the second show submitted has become the second-most downloaded shown on HEC-TV.

Each month, two of the Ladue Broadcast Technology department’s televisions shows, the student-produced Ladue View and the district communications program Ladue Schools Today, are combined into a one-hour television show called iAm Ladue.  See the first edition of iAm Ladue.

LHWHS Senior Subramanian Publishes Article in Science Magazine

Ladue Horton Watkins High School Senior Mukund Subramanian, has been published in the Journal of Experimental Secondary Science.  His article, Application of Bioinformatics in the Revelation of NSCLC Biomarkers and Potential Targeted Drug Therapies, was researched at Washington University by Subramanian who then collaborated with LHWHS Science Teacher Ted Waterson to submit the article.

LHWHS Haywood-Gaskin Receives October Excellence in Education Award

Angela Haywood Gaskin, a Spanish teacher at Ladue Horton Watkins High School received the October 2012 Excellence in Education Award at the October 22, 2012 Board of Education meeting.   Angela has taught Spanish at the high school since she came to the district in 2006 and considers both Memphis and St. Louis her hometowns.

She and her husband, John, have been married for 27 years and have three children.  Her daughter Christina is a senior at the University of Missouri in St. Louis (UMSL), her son John is a sophomore at Benedictine College, and her son Jay is a freshman at Ladue Horton Watkins High School.
