Speech and Debate Team Wraps Up a Great Semester

The Talking Rams competed the Fall 2011 semester with great results at the Pattonville Invitational. The tournament was held on the 9th and 10th of December at Pattonville High School. Thirty schools from across the state of Missouri attended and LHWHS students continued in their season of excellence!

LHWHS Speech and Debate Student Invited to National Tournament

Ladue Horton Watkins High School Senior Emily Bell has been invited to attend the Montgomery Bell Academy’s (MBA) Southern Bell Forum Extemporaneous Speaking Round Robin. MBA invited 20 students from across the country to participate in this prestigious event. There is no application or recommendation process; students are chosen based on their personal accomplishments in the field of Extemporaneous Speaking.

LHWHS Students Advance in Regional Speech and Debate Tournament

Many students from the Talking Rams have advanced in the Greater Saint Louis Speech League’s (GSL) tournament. The tournament is hosted in seven small pieces over the course of the first semester; advancing students will compete in the finals in late January.

LHWHS Wrestling Team Wins Chaminade Tournament

At the time of this posting, the Ladue Horton Watkins High School wrestling team is three weeks into the season and undefeated.  On Saturday, December 17, 2011, the team added the Red Devils Duals title by winning the tournament hosted by Chaminade.  Read the details in this story posted on Stltoday.com.

LHWHS Streid Wins Anti-Tobacco Multimedia Awards Program

Ladue Horton Watkins High School Senior David Streid was recognized on Thursday, December 15, 2011 for his photographic entry shown here.  The photograph entitled “from ashes” was submitted in the “Share the Truth About Tobacco” multimedia competition, sponsored by the Saint Louis County Department of Health (DOH).

Tara Siesener Plays Lead Role in “Hairspray” for Cruise Line

Ladue Horton Watkins High School graduate, Tara Siesener, is currently playing Tracy Turnblad, the lead role in the musical Hairspray, aboard the Oasis of the Seas cruise ship.  This is the first full scale broadway production aboard a cruise ship and Siesener says, “I’m having a blast!” Siesener formerly played the role of Turnblad in the Las Vegas Company of Hairspray and is delighted to be continuing the role aboard the Oasis of the Seas.

Beracha Brings E-Reader Program to LMS

Ladue Schools Building Project Featured in National Publication

The technology used by architects, engineers and contractors to build the recently completed Ladue Early Childhood Center was featured in a recent article, citing the Ladue School District’s project as a success story for the Building Information Modeling (BIM) software solution.

Old Bonhomme was “Rockin’ for a Cause” During Red Ribbon Week

During Red Ribbon Week, Old Bonhomme students focused on making good choices and raised money for the Ladue Family Assistance fund.  During Physical Education classes, they participated in a “rock ‘n’ run marathon” in which teams took turns rocking in rocking chairs and running.  Old Bonhomme students “rock” and make healthy and helpful choices!

Girls and Boys Cross Country Finish Successful Season

Both the girls and the boys cross country teams recently completed successful 2011 seasons.
